At SCREWS, a nonprofit tool library and community hub in Tallahassee, our mission is to connect communities with sustainable hardware resources while supporting creativity through mentorship, workshops, and the arts. From the start, we’ve committed to amplifying this mission with art rather than relying on large corporations for marketing. Paying artists to promote SCREWS aligns with our values of community-driven creation and economic empowerment. With that commitment in mind, forming a band as our marketing branch feels natural. Music is a universal language that sparks connection, and our founder, Gordy Cox, envisioned SCREWS as a space where art and repair coexist. The SCREWS band embodies this vision—creating original music that reflects our ethos and draws attention to our cause in a way that feels authentic and inspiring. We’ve already released two singles, “The Feedback”—featured in the Tallahassee Democrat—and “Beat in Me,” with more on the way. While we haven’t performed live yet, this is just the beginning. Check back here for all things SCREWS Music related—new releases, updates, and future performances. By letting the band lead our marketing efforts, we ensure that every dollar spent supports artists and strengthens the cultural heartbeat of our community rather than feeding corporate advertising systems.
